ALL WOMEN OVER 25 ARE INVITED TO HAVE REGULAR SMEAR TEST.
We have reached out to hundreds of Somali Women and have encouraged them to take part in a number of events from January 2019 to March 2019. The events have been held at Townfield Community Centre and the feedback for the events was overwhelmingly positive. We find it vital to educate as many women as possible about the enormous benefits of prioritising their health, and the promotion of smear tests ensures that their health remains a top priority for Organizations such as Qoys Daryeel.

Our experience of the Campaign was that it was largely successful with a response rate of women in the hundreds. Where information regarding Smear Tests was not as widely accessible to those who we have helped, our partnership with the NHS has allowed us to successfully encourage the women in our community to make sure they are taking their Smear Tests whenever necessary.
The Highlight of the campaign was a combination of being able to work with the CCG Hillingdon, as it allowed us to receive the support for our Project that would ensure we reached as many Women as possible, but the high numbers of women who participated was in and of itself the greatest highlight, and has also given us the push we needed to pursue future projects such as this.
The primary issue raised as a result of the campaign was the lack of face to face interpreters for Somali Women at their GP in Hillingdon. The language barrier has kept them from potentially receiving vital information regarding their health, and the idea that other local communities encourage the use of interpreters where ours did not was a major concern. Essentially, the implantation of Somali interpreters would greatly improve the experience of speaking with their GP for Somali Women in Hillingdon.
