WOMEN EXERCISE AND WALKING GROUP.
Vulnerable women are managing burdens of increasing domestic work and unpaid care; compounded by being subjected to ongoing prejudice and discrimination; further exacerbated by grief through losses of livelihood and loved ones.
Funding will enable us to deliver weekly exercise and walking classes with the aim of reaching out to women who are suffering, alone. Through sessions, women will learn how to maintain their physical health, and emotional wellbeing: establishing consistent healthy routines around sleep, diet and exercise; while also finding their own sense of identity and belonging in a community with others to whom they can relate.
Workshops will make a difference to women, by providing critical support as they transition into the ‘new normal’ and overcome the lasting and longer-term effects of the pandemic: becoming empowered to find their voice and fulfil their potentials without limitation. This is a new project based upon the foundations of our successful pre-pandemic interventions and designed in response to ongoing virtual community engagement through lockdown; aiming to meet women’s’ increasing needs while bridging economic and social disparities.
