NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

Many of the inhabitants of Burao dispose their waste in water streams and open dumpsites allocated by the municipality. However, such unsanitary waste disposal methods are not efficient and the rubbish ends up beside the roads and in water streams at the time of rains.

The dumping of waste without processing or treatment results in environmental pollution.  The pollution includes surface and ground water, air, soil and crop pollution as well as visual blight.  People living near dumpsites are at high risk of respiratory illnesses and skin infections.
